I am so frustrated with this 14 day quarantine! Patrick and I are debating what to do about our August trip as we’d have to take 3 weeks offif we keep pushing our trip we’ll run into the same problem so why not just go now is our thought. We should be able to return wait 4-5 days get tested and be able to go back to work. It’s even more frustrating that Toronto will be a NHL hub city and players are exempt from the 14 day quarantineI need my Vegas fix

New rollbacks go into effect tomorrow at midnight. You may want to confirm them if they will affect any upcoming trip. Some more updates are expected tomorrow....

Bars must close if they don’t serve food. Most reports say that this includes the bars inside of casinos

Restaurants with a bar will have to close the bar area

Restaurants can’t sit groups of more than 6

There is a detailed directive coming out tomorrow morning. We don't know yet exactly how things will play out. On the one hand, if I'm a bar owner forced to close while Chandelier or Lift can stay open, I'd be pissed; on the other hand, today's announcement was pretty vague and didn't address unrestricted gaming licensees. But I could also make an argument that service bars within casinos could be impacted (pure speculation on my part), which would affect a lot more than just walk-up "bars".

Either way, this is not good news.

Unfortunately, yes. That said, they're trying to get ahead of things. They don't want to look like Florida or Texas. Despite Vegas having a popular perception as being a bit of a free-for-all, it's one of the most tightly-regulated places in the country and their entire reputation is predicated on safety and responsibility.

You guys have been getting patients from Arizona all week since many of their hospitals are full. I can see why the governor would want to do something now instead of being in a position where he’d have to find another state to send his constituents to. The California counties neighboring Nevada have had to set up tents under the heat of the desert because they main floors are full, so he can’t count on being able to send people there.

"Sisolak said the closure requirement will also affect any bartop with an attached casino gaming machine."

"He clarified that people need to be wearing masks unless they are “actively” walking into a pool, swimming in a pool, or are exiting a pool"

Main thing we do is play VP bars and go to pool. Both effectively eliminated. May take golf clubs, play golf and craps next trip. This isn't looking good at all. FML.

Main thing I do is drink at bars and go to the pool. I already had a social distance/mask plan for the pool though. And there’s a chance my SIL that I’m at war with might be in Vegas the same time as my trip. So now I actually won’t feel that badly if I cancel.

Rationally, if casino employees are the ones getting sick they need to do something. I hope it’s not another shutdown and this with everyone masking helps.

Maybe the numbers will improve and by mid August they’ll open bars again.

Woke up from morning nap after doing a few hours of housework to wife who thought I had just woken up for day screaming at me about how I do nothing. This trip is on if we have to sleep in Borat's car in the Bellagio parking lot and play craps out in front of the fountain while drinking 40's from Walgreens. ;)

Glad to see you’re still optimistic, BeeeJay, I wish I could say the same!

Was planning a triumphant return to Vegas at the end of this month for a family trip (rescheduled from NFL draft weekend). It will most likely be my dad’s final trip to Vegas as he has MS, can’t walk, and is generally in poor health (don’t get me started on whether he should even be traveling right now, that was not my decision). The masks aren’t a deterrent; if I have to wear them at work for 8 hours every day I can certainly wear them while gambling.

Then the travel ban came out... and I started to have second and third thoughts. I can’t afford to miss two weeks of work upon my return (retail) and even my apartment complex sent out a notification regarding quarantining upon returning from one of those states.

I was told by a manager that the quarantine only applies if you live in the city of Chicago, but they don’t seem to know which end is up most days and I don’t know if I can trust that. Even with that, I was still planning on risking it and going.

But now with the bars closing and the inane pool rules, I think this is the final nail in the coffin. AFAIK, the rest of the family is still going, they’re all able to quarantine/work from home if need be, and none of them really play VP that much (nor, let’s face it, do they drink as much as me!). But for me, not being able to play bartop VP (at chandelier especially!) will put a serious damper on my trip.

I’m still keeping the vaca days and hopefully I’ll make some lemonade out of my lemons...

Sort of. If I'm recalling the press conference correctly, he said that bar areas need to be closed off regardless of whether they have a gaming machine; I read that as saying that it's irrelevant whether there's a VP unit installed. That said, I also read that as meaning that local taverns like a PT's or Dotty's aren't going to be exempt. Lots of news coverage is just sort of paraphrasing, and I still haven't seen the actual directive that's supposedly coming today. Either way, it's not bueno.
The problem is twofold. One part is the casino employees getting sick, but the other is people taking it home with them as a fun little souvenir. Last I checked, the "Nevada" numbers only include people who are diagnosed here.

Similarly, my apartment complex sent out a message basically saying, "You have to wear a damn mask wherever you are unless you're on the pool deck".

In case anyone is interested I may or may not have called off work and flown to Vegas this AM. I can neither confirm or deny that this happened. I was more concerned by the idiots at the airport with the mask wearing and social distancing than I am here cough cough I mean if I was actually here...

    Casino bars are open

To be fair, the mandate goes into effect at 11:59pm tonight. I don't think we completely know yet how things will look tomorrow.
