Rich businesses play by a different set of rules of course.

If someone gets a negative test after X days, mandatory quarantine should end. I just dunno what X is. I do feel like 14 days is too long if a test comes negative. Could also argue multiple negative tests before returning.

Speaking of tests, M's dad got one for no real justification this week. Negative.

I'm leaning towards cancelling my Aug 11th trip. Too many gamblers from CA and AZ in Vegas.

I'm with you chuck. Visitors are the problem for me as well. That and having to make a stop both directions.

I planned on playing in the middle of the night and just hanging in the room the rest of the time, which would really be OK with me for a trip or two.

But in the end, I can just drive to Springfield or AC, save the airfare, and have the same experience. I have some friends from CA who I usually meet for a few days and they bailed, that was kind of the last straw.

And as you noted, Vegas is mostly drawing visitors with a higher proportion of DGAF attitude. And a lot of full-on nutjobs are coming out of the woodwork. Don't need it.

That's what I've been advocating for a few weeks now. The quarantine act was put in place in Canada at a time when there weren't enough tests so the only practical thing to do was to force people to isolate for 14 days and hope for the best. I'm pretty sure everywhere in North America there's enough testing capacity now to test all travelers. It would actually be better anyway to force anyone coming in from another area (not just into Canada, literally anywhere) to test negative before getting on an airplane (ideally at the airport) for any flight.

The cost of the test should be paid for by the traveler (not the taxpayer) and it would need to be a quick result test (ideally antigen) at the airport. If you are nervous about testing positive at the airport and then being denied entry to the flight, then you probably shouldn't have been getting on the airplane in the first place. While doctors won't "guarantee" immunity after infection, there's been enough of a sample size at this point where it's 99.9999% likely that re-infection can't happen so put an immunity passport in place to avoid unnecessary testing.

The nice side-benefit of that for airplanes would be that since you've made it nearly impossible for any covid-positive people to get on the plane you *could* drop the masks and fill the plane.

Our local was allowed to open yesterday but they still haven't done so because they "aren't ready" to safely do so. It's been 15 weeks. How much more preparation time do you need? Sheesh!

I've posted that I was planning on heading down to FL to see my sick BIL but my sister doesn't think I should risk being in FL unless his conditions worsen.

And there's no way I'm setting foot inside of Tampa Hard Rock. If I won't do that I shouldn't consider Vegas either.

@Lousyatcraps Westjet which I now call Worstjet cancelled three times my flights from Victoria to Kelowna with no alternative options and refund only to travelbank. So much for travel within your own province. I don't see my Vegas flight in September happening with them either at this rate I'm ok with that one being cancelled.

    3 times ? That sucks!
Yeah, our September trip will probably be cancelled the way things are going; I’ve been looking at places to visit in BC as an alternative, might check out some wineries with a few friends.

I cancelled my August trip this week. Masks at the pool? No Bueno! Hoping things settle down for my late Sept trip, but not holding my breath.

I’m keeping hope alive for August. I had a trip for mid June which would have been fine if I hadn’t freaked out in the beginning of May and canceled it. So I’m waiting to see this time.

I will happily enjoy what’s open with a mask if I go. Even the pool. I have my mask at the pool already decided.

@claired67 when we were at the Blvd Pool on Monday--people seemed to be wearing masks when walking around or going to the bathroom. On the daybeds and in the pool--no masks. I am keeping my finger crossed for you.

Claire - I'm pretty surprised to see that you're keeping August hope alive. I just spoke with my AZ slotting friend who still plans to go with her daughter. My niece is also inclined to go. Me - not so much.

@Anna T. that’s seems easily doable to me-but I can drink rosé from a straw slipped under a mask if I have to

@SIlverGolfer I’m hopeful but know it’s a bit irrational. But I’m not jumping the gun this time. There’s no way I can go in the fall and I don’t really like going in the winter so August might be it. But safety will always be my priority so if I decide I can’t go, I’ll stay home.

Hope things improve for you to visit your family soon.

We might go back again in August. I did not feel uncomfortable in V/P at all. The only exception was when we were slotting by that circular bar at the Venetian. Cosmo is not a place we will be going back to unless it is during the week. The mask thing is not a big deal to me and it is not going to go away at all any time soon. The pool might suck with the mask so if it does I will only go out for an hour or not go. The restaurant scene is not something we are really doing anywhere so for us to grab and go is fine with us. Room service is cool as well.

Have you written up a review of your experience? Or could you out up some bullet points. Thanks. I keep postponing my trips.

My wife and I may try for a mid August visit. I really don’t know how much better things will get by year end so we may go and see what things are like. We are leaning towards staying at MB or Delano since there is a lot of space on the casino floor and I think social distancing will be more problematic at just about every other casino. Wynn seems to have the safest protocols in place but we don’t play there much and we don’t want every meal to be a “foodie experience”. I am glad that the airlines and hotels are being so lenient about cancellations so changing our minds isn’t such a big deal.
