Be still, my heart. I haven't been since January and it's absolutely killing me. I'm actually a little surprised they're so delayed because they have a tight menu to begin with, they've always restricted capacity (I haven't ever seen the place more than half-full, which they do intentionally), and Prime is open. But so it goes.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I definitely won't be risking my life to go there and see for myself how scary/bad it is.

It isn't...I go to all the New England casinos. Encore's floor is so big and spaced out, and the place is usually pretty slow unless its a Saturday night. All of them feel pretty safe to me, spread out, machines off, people in New England have been great about masks. Im most comfortable at MGM, but they are all fine.

That's a perfectly valid opinion to have regarding your own personal risk, and equally logical behavior based on that risk assessment. If you happened to live in Ontario then that opinion would probably represent the majority.

For some, and I would include myself in that group, the assessed risk is low enough to justify / offset the benefits of an enhanced life experience. The only reason I'm not on a plane to Vegas right now is because @Mrs2BOBCATS needs to go into work each day and turning a 1-week vacation into a 3-week vacation plus quarantine isn't feasible. Since March I've made one 1-hour trip to pick up a new treadmill and one 3-hour trip to pick up business supplies (both of those fairly recent), and she's not been more than a 15 minute drive from home since March (and neither have the kids). Other than the occasional round of golf we've done nothing but work and get the basic essentials from local stores, wearing masks everywhere, for nearly 5 months. We don't find this type of living particularly enjoyable, so even a limited Vegas sounds like a nice break even with the virus risk. Maybe if our local(s) were open it would be better, but they're not so there's essentially nothing to do.

It's the very small minority of people who think there's zero risk and therefore need to take zero precautions that are pretty much ruining this for the rest of us. But we feel that we could effectively avoid those people and the extra risk they cause to us.

I try to stay out of the virus debates, but I think this is essentially right. The fact is that you're only partially wearing it for yourself -- it's for other people too. I'd include, along with the people who think there's zero risk, the people who don't want to wear a mask simply because they've been told to, are why we can't have nice things. There's certainly a mental health aspect to it at this point, at there's risk just in going about your day, and I personally can't spend the rest of my life within my one-bedroom condo. So I'm careful about who I'm around, limit where I go, avoid big crowds, and wear a mask (it's a snazzy VGK logo mask that I wash every day). As I put it above, it's people acting like toddlers that are getting us into the mess we're in today and messing things up for everyone else.

I don't know in USA but in France during the stay at home order , health autorithies told us mask doesn't desserves at all(out of FFP2 type), probably cause at that moment we had no stock , now mask is requires in all public area , inpublic transportation (in&around Paris) obviously mask is required and social distancing but in July/August we have many work zones and many lines off, it seems that people avoid vacation so it's too crowded in public transportation ,it's hot temperatures no A/C in trains so many blackout...

That was the case in the USA as well. I further digress, but unfortunately, it was poorly messaged and a lot of people interpreted it as "masks are pointless" rather than "we only have a few masks right now so let's keep them available for first responders".

So when Borat and I woke up "post-pool pass out" on Saturday to my 5pm alarm still going off at 10:30pm, realizing we were 4.5 hours late to meet you at Jean Georges, I tried to call for Aria room service and got a message it was open 8am-2pm only. I was able to order in-room delivery from Burger Lounge, and it was actually to the room in an insanely fast time. And it was REALLY good. Of course our blood alcohol may have been between 0.2 and 0.25 at the time. And Borat may or may not have "Hasselhoffed" this meal in bed. So definitely some reduced hours there!

I love the chicken sandwiches from the burger bar. I get them all the time. And now the Park has a new chicken place - The Crack Shack. I'll definitely try that the next time I'm at Aria :)

I was at Aria today and walked past. There was a new sign up and a changed/limited menu (just a handful of slices), but literally everything else looked the same, right down to the uniforms. I didn't get a slice, but they definitely looked like the old Five-50 types slices. Between that and Sage closing, my guess is that this was more about Aria parting ways with Shawn McClain than a fundamentally different restaurant.

Also, Din Tai Fung isn't quite done yet, but they were moving furniture in, so I have a feeling it'll be any day now.

Otherwise, no major changes on the floor. Blackjack minimums were where they usually are on a Friday night (6:5 at $15/$25, 3:2 on up). Craps was at $15. The seating situation continues to be annoying, since there are half the number of spots. I briefly considered playing some blackjack, but once again could not find an open seat.

I have a feeling they put things on pause during the shutdown. There was security and maintenance around, but if I'm then I'd have been waiting and seeing. They've moved pretty quickly since opening day.

Having read recent trip reports and personal accounts both here at VF and elsewhere, I'm still very surprised at the disparity in mask policy as it applies to smokers vs. non-smokers. While security at many casinos are rightfully reminding non-smoking guests who are non-compliant that they must wear or pull up their mask, it makes absolutely no sense to me that someone who is actively smoking is essentially given carte blanche to not wear a mask.

I realize that since the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act permits smoking in casinos, this is largely a legislative issue and not a gaming commission issue. However, as such, you'd think that the state would have the authority to at least temporarily modify these regulations given the current situation. I could be way off, but given the present situation, I think this measure would actually be reassuring and appealing to more patrons than it would alienate.

Went to Blue Chip in Indiana the other day. They VOLUNTARILY went non-smoking. Mask compliance shot up significantly because now the only accepted reason to have your mask off was drinking as Indiana had already banned eating on the floor. I ended up being one of the least compliant in the casino with a mask because I was drinking 90% of the time. But of course, i did sit at a machine not very close to anyone while I drank.
