At BEST?! They are smoking something, whoever said that.

I feel like some people just throw figures out there for shits and giggles. And some throw figures like that out there because they thrive on doomsday news.

Whoever said that fits in one of those two categories.

    I will!
I expect it to be way less busy like it was when I was there March 13-15th before the closing.

I had an interesting survey today from one of the casinos I play at here in Arizona. They mainly asked about when I would feel comfortable returning and then went into several possible things they are considering doing and wanted my opinion on them.
Most were stuff we have heard of or saw at some casinos before closing like every other machine off, less chairs at table games, more sanitizing stations, closing buffets, spaced out tables at restaurants, limiting capacity, and taking temperatures of people, etc.
A few new ideas I saw was putting plexiglass between each slot machine and keeping them all on. Another was closing the casino for a few hours at night to be able to do a deep cleaning.

Went ahead and booked my backup weekend in case May 1-3 at Delano doesn’t happen.

May 15-17 at Sam’s Town. If that doesn’t happen then will book June 5-7. Repeat as necessary until I am successful!

I would want to wait until July, hoping they would find a more reliable treatment for COVID-19 by that time. But I still take precaution to protect myself just in case like not going to concerts and shows and wiping the slot machines with alcohol wipes and wearing mask.

I think the idea of closing the casino at night for cleaning isn't a bad idea. My locals do not need to be open at 4 AM. every night of the week. Of course there's very few people at that hour, they can probably clean while people are there.

But that may be what many of them do when they first stat opening again.....maybe they start with limited hours, 10 AM to 2 AM or something.

I think 10am is too late to open, and 2am is too early to close (NYC bars are open until 4am, after all), but I could see something like 8am or 7am until 4am. I could also see something like partial, rolling closings, so that certain sections are shut down for cleaning for a time each day. But I agree that not everything needs to be 24/7 at first.

It would be nice if casinos provide alcohol wipes for people to disinfect the machines themselves. Most casinos already provide hand sanitizer even before their closure.

Some places have started doing it. Even the CVS does (which is kind of pointless because the staff are constantly wiping everything down). I have a feeling there are supply issues at the moment, but it's a good idea.

This. Palazzo Venetian do this all the time. About 1/6 of floor shut down every night for "cleaning" or adjusting paybacks. Lol

If you can pipe in fragrance, can you pipe in Lysol? Install sanitizing misters everywhere.

I have finally adjusted to my late June trip. Not sure if I have it in me to adjust again without tears.

I probably will spend next weekend saying to Jim "We would be getting off the plane now." "We would be getting a cocktail in the VIP Lounge now." "We would be getting bacon delivered to the Sportsbook now."

I wonder how long it will take for widespread airport screening to be implemented?

Thermal scanners were added in Dubai a month ago already:
    https://gulfnews.com/uae/health/vid...-thermal-screening-for-coronavirus-1.70176180

And more recently blood tests at the airport with 10 minute results:
    https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/emirates-passengers-blood-test-covid-19/index.html

I haven't heard of plans for this in North America yet - perhaps that's part of the plans being released later today? I fully understand that it would take a while to implement this at airports - but it's strange that there's no plan for it yet.

Too funny - the other wildly popular Covid thread was shut down and this one is now the only option :)

FYI - I think I read that > 500 TSA agents have tested positive - we need a vaccine before we can get back to normal. Given that the governor of CA has already said that there will be no fans in sports stadiums this year, it is logical to conclude that casinos can't re-open with business as usual either.

With the casinos closed for such a long time, some of us might have problem getting VIP level such as diamond, 7 Stars. My husband might have problem of retaining his diamond plus for next year. I wonder what the casino will do since there might not be enough time for the members to retain their VIP level if the casinos will remain closed for a few more months or longer.

MGM has extended statuses until Jan 2022. I imagine other casinos will follow suit

I guess we'll let you join...
AC used to be 10a-6a, iirc. Illinois is mostly 22 hours a day (recently you can appeal to be 24/7 now), @jenblase and I shut down Harrah's Joliet one night playing until 6a! And Missouri might be the weirdest of all. The state mandates you to be closed at least one hour per WEEK. But the casinos outside of STL and KC though tend to close a few hours every weekday voluntarily because like @MGMSpringfield hinted, they're dead at 4am!

Overall though. It wouldn't be a bad idea to shut down for a few hours a night to clean. But if the casino is big enough. you could shut down sections like @TwoArmedBandito and @44inarow said.

I like the hours of cleaning suggestions. No need to be open from 3am to 7am.

Only time I was there that late/early was when I was on tilt, lol.

But I also wish they would ban smoking. I haven't looked too much into it but it feels like it's common sense that the virus lingers onto smoke easier than just air.

Biloxi is notorious for smoking. Love going there, but hate the cancer I get walking around the casinos.
