I hate to be the one who is adding any fuel to the threat of the worldwide coronavirus and the impact it is having on all of our lives.

As of now I have a trip planned to fly to Vegas from RDU through DCA on 3/24 and then returning on 3/28 and flying through CLT on the way back.

I was planning to go with one friend and he cancelled today. I have had this trip booked for over 6 months and many factors as to why I have been looking forward to this trip more than any other that I don't need to get into. Let's just say I need a break to decompress and figure out what I want out of my life. While I know I wont get all the answers I need in Vegas for these life decisions I do know that I need to get away and Vegas is my favorite place on earth.

I have been to Vegas numerous times by myself and all of them were before I was married. My wife doesn't understand why I love Vegas and honestly I am not trying to change her way of thinking as I enjoy it the way I want to and without having to answer questions the entire trip.

So as of now I am planning to go by myself and take the flight and enjoy Vegas without hopefully too much worry about others around me. I am concerned about domestic air travel being shut down and I that happens will only assume the Vegas strip will shut down as I don't know how it can be open without people flying in to get there.

I wanted to get an idea as to what the consensus is here if I will be able to take my trip after all this waiting.

Just to note I am in my late 40's and am in good health with no underlying conditions so I am not worried about getting sick myself. The way I look at it I have a better chance of dying in a car accident tomorrow.

I cancelled my trip for March 19th last night I have family members I don’t want to put at risk if I get exposed. Luckily, I have many additional trips planned.

Pure speculation here - I think you’ll know well before March 24 if Vegas is going to close down. I’m reading more everyday about parts of Vegas closing. I read today that Mandalay closed their pools and Wynn pool day clubs have closed. I wouldn’t be surprised if all of Vegas closes for deep cleaning. It happened in Macau so it’s not unprecedented.

I hope I’m wrong, you get to take your trip, and have a wonderful time.

I imagine a lot of the closures are traffic driven ATM. If no one's at the day clubs, why keepn them open? It's certainly a good time to give a thorough washing while inconveniencing as few people as possible.

There are 11,000 deaths a year from having sex, I hope everyone stops right now!!!!!!!!!!! People are insane to have sex, if the media tells me to stop of course I will stop why would I ever take that risk!!!! Wow if they close the pools and cancel the Billboard awards, I too will cancel my trip, the sky is falling, life is a risk I am willing to take!

Yeah I also think any closings are more business related than anything. If there are so few people going to the casino that it's more expensive to keep them open, then we'll see closings or at least limited hours.
I can tell by going to a local casino this week that people are staying away from casinos and business is way down. The buffets closing make sense, not just because of safety but more than anything buffets are expensive to run and if people are staying away both for health fears and because the casino is empty. I have seen some casinos close their buffets the weeks before Christmas every year just because business doesn't support it. Same with clubs, pools (its not really pool season yet anyway). One of my local casinos just announced shortened hours at the restaurants already because business is way down.

And here I am tempted to book something for mid April, I can fly round trip from CLT for $82 non stop on American. Almost too good to pass up.

I’m not seeing April as much of an option. I have a big family trip scheduled for 4/12, and I just think that’s when we’ll be in the peak of the spike. Maybe the end of May?

Back in October I had been tasked with organizing a bachelor party for 4/9-4/12. I’m planning on pulling the plug on the trip in the next coming weeks. I’m in my early 30s and the others are in their mid to late 20s, and none of us are really worried about contracting the virus and dying from it. The real worry is getting it and being a “carrier” of the virus, and spreading it to those more susceptible to developing life threatening complications. More and more things will close within the next couple of weeks also, so it’s not even going to be worth the trip.

MGM started closing properties prior to the news about the woman with covid 19 at the Mirage. Now they have staff from Luxor and Wet Republic being tested. Wynn started closing down nightclubs, shows, dayclubs, etc. Fluidity and movement of people from one property to another is some common it is inevitable before the virus spreads amongst employees and more and more things close. I have also noticed a lot of performers with upcoming residencies cancelling. I would imagine within two weeks the Strip will be closed. It’s a bummer but it is what it is.

I have similar mentality like you but now looking at a bigger picture, its not fair to your family members/coworkers if you return home sick. (no symptoms for the first few days as far as I know)

Had trip booked March 27, but cancel it 2 days ago. We shouldn't live in fear but we should all do our part to help stop the diseases spread.

Agreed. If you are only going because rooms are free and flights are $20 you probably can’t afford to be gambling anyway.

Can you cite a source? Not that I don’t believe it....just wonder where it’s coming from.

Look everyone. Go home. Stay there. I know we have people here debunking how bad this is, and people hellbent on Vegas, and I get it. But the shit is hitting the fan and I would imagine a domestic travel ban will be in effect soon and for a few weeks. This is going to ruin my business and I had to cancel a trip to Myrtle Beach that I was really looking forward to, but being here for my 5 year old is more important.

    By here. I mean alive.

Thanks for sharing guys. Do you think this will start the avalanche of Vegas closures?

I can't imagine they won't. Might be a few outliers, but then I think the state government will probably step in and do it themselves.

Just got a text from a host that they were asked to work from home tomorrow. I guess Wynn was the first domino to fall.
