I've been a RFB at Wynncore since opening. They used to have multiple tournaments a month and would sent the most beautiful and elaborate invitations. For the last few months, the offers have gotten scarcer and even though my host assures me that I am still RFB, I miss the excitement of the tournaments. A few days ago, I got a letter about tournament drawings in January. Is the Wynn undergoing restructuring? They are still very generous when it comes to cashback and some new incentives like Gift Cards are nice but it seems that slot players like myself are being reconsidered. Any other thoughts?

They are having two in December 15-17 and 19-21, but they are only for $50,000 purse, which is not something I would go out of my way for. I was invited to one earlier this year, which I attended, it was Olympic themed and was a very well run event. I also got invited to one that was a $10k buy in, which I did not attend. I think I may have also been invited to another, but cannot remember. So, I think they still have them, but also have not received invitations to them in a while, so hopefully its just a pause. I really enjoy the Wynn slot tournaments, they really go all out for it.

Not directly on topic, but FWIW, I was there a little over a week ago for a midweek stay and the place was dead. The main casino was not remotely close to busy any of the three nights I was there. Every meal I was able to walk up and get seated immediately without a reservation. Every bar I walked up to had open seats. And the high limit was dead too. They had one bigger player in there during my stay (guy was betting 10k a hand) and one whale player (100k or more a hand; he and his entourage had four bac tables reserved), but that was pretty much it. There was some sort of convention for doctors going on, but it didn't appear very large. This was my third stay there over the past year and each time the crowds seemed smaller than before. It makes me wonder what they are doing to get people to stay and play there

bemo, the $50,000s are also a trend to have some tournaments on weekdays rather than weekend. The larger tournaments are usually Thursday through Saturday and those are very well run and fun. My host was very tight lipped when I asked him about it. I also hope it's a passing thing because we all love Wynncore and can't see going anywhere else.

And UKFantatic, I also noticed the steep decline in gambler traffic at the resort. You'd think they'd be doing whatever they can to get more players there and the tournaments always bring out the long time guests like myself. There has been a slight uptick in other offers, like free play, but I hope it's not in lieu of reducing tournaments. The last two times I was there, in September and October, the convention crowds outnumbered the gamblers.

I am low roller by pretty much every standard, I love the Wynn and have received decent offers over the years including slot tournament offers. Free night offers have never included a weekend until now. Staying 3 free nights 11/30 to 12/3 with a decent amount of free play. There is a "free" slot tournament that same weekend but I could only take advantage of one offer at a time, I felt the 3 free nights was better.

The Wynn has been dead the last three weeks. Here’s the plaza after lunch today.

My first reaction to these pics was "wow, it can't be that dead!" But then I thought a bit more and it makes sense. The entrance to the plaza from inside the Wynn is kind of hidden. You're only likely to find it if you haven't been there in a couple years and are looking to play poker or buy a six figure car. And from the outside, there just isn't a on of foot traffic that far north on the Strip.

You’re correct. No one is going to stroll through there on their way from point a to point b. The only establishment that seems to have a consistent customer base is Urth Caffe. That’s where we’ve gone to eat breakfast. They also seem to get a nice crowd of sweaty people whenever a soul cycle class ends. We’ve eaten at Cipriani three times and there have only been a maximum of six other tables with diners at any given time.

Update: I attended one of their lesser tourneys last weekend, 11/29-12/2. Less than 200 people and few regulars. They had a drawing with 500 points earning one drawing ticket for the raffle. The drum was shockingly empty despite such a low threshold. No food or drink. Let's hope this was an aberration or maybe they were focusing on their upcoming 10K this week.

No, the 10k buy in is this week. I passed on that one.
