I already posted in the Red Card thread but I thought I'd add some more thoughts here.

Went to a free tournament, weekend 11/29/18-12/2/18. Both a slot tournament and ticket drawing. Less than 200 people, very shocking for a free tourney, which usually gets turn away crowds. Low ticket volume in the drum, meaning less play, or perhaps like me, almost no wins so you couldn't have continuous play. When the winners were announced, their play level was also announced because it affected their winnings. Almost all of the winners were on the lowest level, meaning that they had not hit 10k points in the three day weekend. The only winner who hit the top level, i.e. >30k points was the slot tournament winner. I found it interesting that so few regulars were there but they might be waiting for the 10k buy in that will take place this weekend.

The Plaza is open, but you'd never know it. The place had no customers and still lots of borded up spaces. The Plaza itself is beautiful with lots of natural light and a very fun feel. Also much less stuffy and more inviting than Crystals. The two places that were PACKED: The eating places, Cirpriani and Urth. I went through several times and Urth was jammed every time, much more so than the casual eateries at Wynncore like Charlies or Drug Store. Vital Vegas suggested that most people don't know the mall is open but the business at Urth and Cirpriani contest that.

Although no one in North American has heard of Robbie Williams, everyone in Europe has and they've made his mini-residency a huge hit. Already sold out for both months of his engagement. A surprising development but maybe not so surprising given the number of European tourists. A great rumor I heard was that the convention center may also have a larger theater space, not an arena, but perhaps more like the Coliseum, so they can hold larger concerts and perhaps have bigger name residencies like Springsteen.

Employees at Wynn seem to be totally unsure of what's to happen. Being bought out by Genting? Having trouble in Boston? Elaine Wynn taking over? No one knows for sure and they're all quite nervous. They're not as nervous as the guests I spoke to. The guests are aware of the flux the hotel is in as well as the huge number of convention goers. Have the gamblers been finally overtaken by the conventioneers? Wynn used to send out elaborate printed invitations. They're starting to go towards an email version. The clubs have died down considerably so it would make sense if Wynn concentrated on their gaming again but it seems like those guests are now on a backburner as well.

The next year will certainly tell what happens to the beloved Wynncore Las Vegas.

thanks for the in-depth report of the win I haven't stopped up there for quite a while over a year but then again I've only been to Vegas twice in the last year but sounds like it's sort of a sad setting up there right now

Thanks for the update, I've been considering moving my play over to Wynn vs. Venetian/Palazzo (V/P is also focusing more on the conventioneer, I believe), but for some reason, I really haven't been able to decide what to do. Sounds like I need to rethink my options again.

I was there for the same tournament. I had reached the 3x multiplier level. When they were doing the drawing and I heard the announcer say, level 1 or level 2...I knew it wasn’t me haha.

And you’re right! Everyone was in level 1 which was 0-9999 points. I couldn’t believe it, and it was such a waste! Especially that lady who only won $7500 for the drawing’s grand prize...coulda been $22500.

Honestly, if I knew I had a high score and in the running for at least the top 3 prizes, I’d be playing to get level 3...

    Luckily I walked away with $100 x 3 prize.

Topdollar, do you remember that the lady who won the first prize said she had six tickets. SIX! I mean, maybe they were trying to prove that anyone could win.

ETA: I wanted to point out that this was the first tournament at Wynncore that served no drinks, snacks or refreshments. Nothing, not even cocktail waitresses in the tournament area. The first tournament at Wynncore was in a Convention Center room, had a giant buffet and free play prizes for winners and losers of each round. They used to have Ferrari giveaways as well.

    Not anymore.

Wow. Thanks for the update. I’ve played in several Wynncore tourneys and thought they did a great job; there was always food and drinks and often cool swag (Maui Jim sunglasses at the last one I was at). I think the tourney last year at this time was the Star Wars themed one; it was excellent. Hope this last one you went to isn’t a harbinger of what the future holds.

Yes! Argh! Haha, I had 96 tickets. What they could have done was increase the number of points per drawing ticket. Maybe 1000pts or 2500pts? And increase the drawing prizes.

I’m just really surprised that only 1 or 2 people leveled up...

I wasn’t too happy that they ended up taking 197 people without adjusting the prize pool. I think it was supposed to be based on 150 people.

I was at that tourney as well. The sunglasses were awesome but there were also hand rolled cigars that you got when you registered. So special and fun. No gift this time, nothing. The worst gift up to this point was a piece of red satin fabric which you were supposed to wear as a cape as it was a superhero theme. I would have rather had that than nothing at all. During one of the last buy-ins, the gifts were a Wynn mug and a small blanket. They once gave iPads.

Topdollar, I agree that they should have adjusted the prizes and also increased the ticket drawing. For their strange drawing in January/February, it's one ticket per 5,000 points, which is much more rewarding to those who play. But I doubt they'll be increasing the drawing prizes until they get their finances in order.

The next event (after this week's 10K buy-in) will be their annual 2.5k buy-in in February, which I always enjoy. It seems like nothing but the drawing until then. Interesting times at Wynncore.

    Identity Platinum,
I hadn't heard Robbie Williams was playing Vegas... I get emails from them with discounted rooms fairly often. I stopped by fo, I dunno, half an hour or so probably 7 years ago and have never been back. It's odd to me that they don't send me emails telling me what's going on to try to even get me to stop in. When I do go, I don't even think to check there to see what's happening.

I haven't been into WynnCore in over a year. Not that I have anything against the place, it's really nice, it's just that there's little to make me want to head inside. Sorry to hear they're struggling. I would hope this is just the normal transition pains to new leadership, trying to figure out what they're going to be.

For all of Wynn's faults he GOT customer service. Provided you were willing to pay for it, but he still got it. I hope new management doesn't forget that lesson.
