Yes Virginia, there is (may be) a Santa Claus (casino)...

Take an old abandoned mall, and turn it into a hotel/casino resort... heck, why not!!

It still won't be Vegas, DrP!

Definitely not Vegas, but will certainly be a much easier way to scratch that little itch for the dice that I feel every now and then... an hour drive - I'll take it!!!!

15 minutes from me. Happy for the economy but I have mixed feelings about the casino being so close.

Not being mean or anything, but isn't West Virginia one of the poorest states in the nation? I know some place will prop up a casino to suck in tourist money, but are there tourist going there to sponge from?

When IL launched gaming, the stuck casinos in the poorer towns, as a boost to the local economy. Today, those places are still rundown, and the folks that live there might even be a little more poor.

I'm not sure if WVa is one of the poorest states or not, some areas are a bit depressed because of their reliance on coal mining, but I'm not sure where the state ranks. Perhaps someone from West Va can comment ...West Va. has had casinos for quite a few years though, this thread was about the possibility of casinos finally making a presence in Virginia.
