Omg. Love all the photos and the bracelet from Pandora. Good for M!

Sounds fun or at least most of it. But first trip out of a pandemic is gonna be a little off the rails at times. And I think it’s still a little weird in Vegas with it being busy on weekdays in the heat.

You just have to do what you enjoy on vacation. So good for M going to bingo and the lazy river. And to you for supporting that.

I hope your next trip happens soon!

Damn man... Is this even more detail than usual? This is a serious novel. Given how much beer is involved, not sure if I'd be more impressed if you told me this is a 100% accurate retelling or just 100% made up.

Was good to catch up live again, just wish we'd had better luck. Here's a pic of the one sad quad I hit to preserve the record for posterity (unfortunately I can confirm that part of your memory is 100% accurate!).

Great pics and I learned those lessons a long time ago too :D Suck it up and 'enjoy' the Chillis.

I don't recognise many of the IPA brands as I'm international, but was interested to follow along. On the last couple of trips, Goose IPA seems to have been the default go-to and where I found it, Firestone Union Jack slid down by the gallon. Looks like I will give that space dust a try. Domestic bottles are just not happening, comped or not.

Next trip fast approaching (if the borders open) will be at MB. Grateful for suggestions on where I should be going for beer. Irish pub? Anything decent on the casino floor, or walk thru to Luxor pub? I don't need a massive selection, just one good one served on draft and that will be a result, tyty. And, naturally, extra marks for 24x7 as 9am is just as likely as 9pm.

At least you like Goldfish! I do too! I ate the rest of the bag after we got home. I had too many "liquid Calories" in Vegas. *coughs*

And I am sure @Texas Steph would be a great proxy. If I was solo, maybe I could keep with with a live TR, but then again, I might just get way more shitfaced...

It's mostly accurate, but for my biggest holes I'm sometimes making my best guess. But I think I forgot to mention that your quad was dealt! Sonofabitch!!!! Sorry, man!

Unfortunately we don't really get down there too much, so not too familiar with the options. And I'm more of the type of guy that tries to avoid paying for beer, so I have to take floor/casino bar selections. As for the Rhythm and Riffs bar, I took Lagunitas IPA. I remember almost 7 years ago at that location as Mizuya Lounge, they comped Ninkasi Oatis, and I simply loved it. Most of the casino bars are paring their comped craft selections down...meh. Even Space Dust, which I really like FRESH, is an AB-InBev product as they bought out that brewery (Elysian) almost a decade ago.

Generally speaking, MLife and Cosmo has mostly sold out to AB-InBev for "craft" beer choices, CETDorado has sold out to MillerCoors for their "craft". Some of CET and Cosmo also had Ballast Point Sculpin has an IPA choice.

Day 8: Tues. 6/15/21 Let the Chaos Continue!

Of course, I was feeling pretty rough with my 5:45 am bedtime. We got ready to check out of the Dirty Bird and head back home to a less fun place. But right before check-out, I got a text message that our flight was CANCELED. FUCK. So now we began to scramble, and we're not quite sure what to do. And because we weren't super-quick on the draw, no seats were available on a later flight today. Not being aware of the news because we're on fucking vacation, I thought it might be due to the extreme heat beginning to envelop Vegas.

So we settled on a flight out around 9:25 am tomorrow out of Vegas that stopped in Denver for a few hours and flew us to O'Hare, ugh, with about a 7 pm arrival. Then we inquired about extending our stay at Flamingo since we had a comped stay and at the time I booked, we could get up to 5 free weeknights (except resort fees). Unfortunately, demand shot up there and they wouldn't comp us, just for tonight of course. I could have got it comped there the next night. Dammit. So we were considering other CET properties to see what they could do as well.

Next we had to consider extending the rental car. After 40 minutes on hold, they were willing to extend for another $79. Now I suck at snap decisions almost always. It was more expensive than I hoped obviously. So M asked me what to do. And I told her don't get it. When she hung up, we both almost IMMEDIATELY regretted it. Afterward even her cheap mother said in a phone call, “Why didn't you keep the car?” We also learned that our cancellation was due to the Southwest “glitch”, not the heat. It would have been nice to know that before we rebooked!! So we called Dollar back, and after another 40 minutes on hold, they thankfully gave us the same offer, which we accepted. We also had to drive toward the Rental Car Return while on hold as well as it was due at 2 pm.

Gonna be a hot one today...

During this dilemma, I also reached out to @ted_nancy to see if he could do anything to help us out with the room scenario. Fortunately, he was happy to help us out! And he went above and beyond the call of duty as he set us up with a Palace Tower room at Caesars Palace. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! So at least we were getting our ducks in a row now.

Decided to eat Original Chicken Tender for the second time this trip. This time at the Luxor food court.

Luxor: “Our place is shitty enough, let's put ads for the company's sportsbook app on the iconic pyramid.”

Remember when Blue Man Group was at Venetian? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Didn't forget a pic of our meal this time!!!

Now we parked at Bellagio (we learned our lesson from yesterday) to spend another afternoon at the Boulevard Pool.

    Walk to Cosmo

We like flamingos if you haven't noticed.

Was more time to relax mostly. However, we decided to keep an eye out for other possible changes to our upcoming flight on the SWA app since we had the car until 2. We found a flight that connected through Denver and landed at O'Hare that left at 3 pm instead, so we moved our booking to there. Because more Vegas is better right? Right?!?! Then headed over to Caesars Palace to get our room keys from @ted_nancy. Had a quick chat and once again thanked him for being so generous. And then we moved into the nicest room we had all trip!

Now it was seriously tempting to say fuck going out and enjoy the room. M really liked it because it had a jet tub! But I had been wanting to hit up downtown all week, mainly to check out Circa. Eventually we began to move and got a quick bite at In-N-Out on Sahara Ave. because it was after 7:30 pm at this point. Even this location was packed! Lots of teens there.

Pushed on toward Fremont Street and decided to buck up and paid for parking at the Plaza garage. This pic was at 8:53 pm. Got there a bit later than I hoped to.

Was just in time to catch the 9 pm show.

We weren't too impressed with that show though. Overall the Fremont Street Experience was PACKED for a Tuesday night. Too busy for our liking, especially given what has gone on in the last 18 months.

Now M detoured me into a souvenir shop, zzz. And then we moved on toward the D.

Sorry we ran out of time QQQQ. :(

Nearly immediately M said she didn't like it here because she never wins. Ugh. You just cursed yourself.

I wanted to hit up the D because I knew there was a ton of match play available. $50 for flying SWA, $25 for mentioning “Richard Wilk”, and $25 from the American casino guide.

We found a table with only one other person to try to not interfere. Well, we played 4 hands each. M lost three and pushed one. I got one blackjack, pushed one, and lost the others. She saved the last 2 of our chips for a later date. She's not too happy losing $75 in maybe 3 minutes.

Then move upstairs, but Vue Bar looked pretty full. So I decided to try out Bar Canada because I figured I could find a Canadian beer to try. I was right! Molson Canadian (5%; 3.5 sips) and it was basically a Canadian Budweiser.

I was tempted to get another, but M couldn't get on Sigma Derby as half of the spots were busted, so she was bored. She really hates the D, fml.

But it was after 10 pm by now anyway, and I wanted to set aside at least a good hour for the other place I really wanted to visit, Circa.

Yeah, it was the spectacle I was expecting. I really liked it. But I like places that are more “fancy” than the typical downtown casino. M was surprised soon after entering when air conditioning shot up her legs. Lol

Went to the Mega Bar, I wish they had more unique taps instead of repeating the same ~20 taps down the length of the bar, but they still had a few decent craft choices.

The one I chose is a local brew, Banger Brewing's “El Heffe” (5.6%; 4.25 sips). I really liked this better because the spice from the peppers really mellowed out the banana-like flavors often seen in hefeweizens.

View of the sportsbook TV wall from the Overhang.

I played at the machines that weren't watched by the Overhang Bar bartenders and after awhile I got this.

M got a decent bonus at “Cats”.

Now I moved over to the actual Overhang Bar, and switched to Dirty Shirley's because no obvious craft beer at that bar slash I wanted to speed up drinking a bit.

Now if you haven't figured me out by now, I often tend to play the VP game with the best theoretical payback available. And for Circa bars at the quarter level, that's 8/6 Bonus Deluxe (98.49% before prog.). I've played a decent amount of quarter Bonus Deluxe in Vegas and never hit a quad on the game at that level. And my last royal was on quarter Bonus Deluxe! So how the hell don't I have a quad on the game?!?!

Finally!!! And by holding KJ of spades! But shit, just give me my first progressive Royal at that point!?!?!

Put down a few drinks in fairly short order, so now I was feeling a bit of a buzz.

Headed back to “Biff's Pleasure Palace” to pick up the car.

Bye Downtown. Hope to spend more time there next time! I might need to send M to Stadium Swim for the day or something...ha

Took the car back to Caesars Palace for the night and didn't plan to go far.

Since we were still technically on the clock from our Flamingo checkout, we thought it was a decent idea to play on our cards a little. But M needed another copy of hers. I offered to get her one from the card reprinting machines.

So I had her ID in my left hand looking like I was a man on a mission. I walked by a woman about my age sitting at a slot machine, and she said to me, “You can stick that card in my slot.” And I immediately said, “Oh no, this isn't a player's card. It won't work in your machine. I'm going to print out a new one.” Unsurprisingly, she was dumbfounded, and I kept on my way. I am a FUCKING IDIOT.

After getting that apparently so-important card reprint, I told M what happened. We began to LAUGH OUR ASSES OFF because of my STUPIDITY of not realizing what she was inferring. It was the most that we'd laughed in Vegas in a long time.

Of course, now I was going to try to find another drink. But after midnight on a weekday, there were only two bars on the floor still open. The Sportsbook bar near Omnia that was slammed with people trying to get into Omnia. I tried to play there a bit, but I said forget it after 5 minutes. The lobby bar was the other bar, and it was also packed. A vodka bar off the gaming floor that had VP units was still open, so at least I was able to get a bottle of beer (Lagunitas IPA) from there.

I returned to the slot that M was at, and she already had a drink. Doh. That section (near the food court) was covered by a pretty speedy waitress that night. M also liked playing there because they had this game.

So for the next 90 minutes we got a few drinks each from the waitress, and I was feeling pretty good at that point. Unfortunately, no other good hits to share. I slowly bled my money on a “Pets” slot machine. Headed up to the room around 2am because she wanted to use that tub.

Day 9: Wed. 6/16/21 ”Nine out of Ten Times, No Problem.” “But What About the Tenth Time?” “Problem?”

Got ready to leave our great room at Caesars Palace that we probably should have enjoyed even more than we did. M debated about even not filling up the car since she did it yesterday, and we were pretty sure the people before us returned it at almost 7/8ths anyway. But it moved off “Full” when we were driving to get lunch. Ate at Chipotle at the South Outlet Mall. Shit, we ate a lot at that area this trip.

And of course look who was there...hahahahaha Our model was an upgrade though.

Every step of returning the car seemed to take 10 minutes longer than expected. First we missed the return garage because we were technically supposed to return it to the Hertz garage and didn't realize it. Dollar/Thrifty moved their cars in there. Then there were zero people helping you to give you the final checkout. Then just missed a rental shuttle.

But still had enough time to get to the gate. Unfortunately, our flight was delayed a bit and required a gate change. Then there were was only one gate agent able to help wheel the wheelchairs down the jetway. So we looked to be about ready to depart about an hour behind schedule. And we pushed back.

While taxiing, the pilot announced that there is an indicator light that was going to prevent us from taking off until it's cleared. Pilot said, “This is no big deal, it usually just gets simply reset at the gate, and we get back on our way.” The pilot reminded me of Dmitri the Cosmonaut in this scene from the “Big Bang Theory” at the 2:47 mark.

Well, we kept sitting on the plane. About an hour later, an announcement was made stating what connections will certainly be missed due to this delay and what your options are. Try to get a new flight out of Vegas, or get a new flight out of Denver when they were finally able to get you there. They also warned us that there weren't many hotels near the Denver airport. Our connection was NOT one of them named because we had a sizable layover in Denver, upwards of two and a half hours.

Now when @ted_nancy booked this comp room at Caesars for us, he made it originally for THREE nights. Given what was happening, the idea of voluntarily leaving the plane crossed my mind as we had the hotel already covered at least. I just wanted to make sure we could rebook without penalty/fare changes. I was able to leave the plane and verify that we would be able to do this. I had M's cell phone in my pocket and took it off the plane with me because I was the one using it last to watch TV, so she was a bit freaked out until I returned. Shit. I relayed to M that we were afforded the same options as all the other displaced passengers. I was mainly in the camp of staying longer. M was more hesitant because she would have to take off work, and we likely would have no luggage with us. But with her work, an “absence” can last up to three days, and she still had quite a few PTO hours. So we made the decision to get off the plane and stay in Vegas longer!!!

This turned out to be a wise decision. After 15 minutes in line waiting to rebook, we saw everyone getting off of the plane. So now the line behind us to rebook was getting huge.

M went and took a peek at our plane. She sees a firetruck. “Problem.”

Now we debated about how long to stay. Obviously, I was pushing to stay until Friday while M was more unsure. Worried about another issue getting out of town possibly, and not sure she wanted to miss two days of work, or possibly go two days without clothes. The latter was rectified though because they were going to pull the luggage off of the plane and all the luggage not going to Denver would be set aside. So I talked her staying in Vegas for another 48 hours! And an extra bonus, we could fly into Midway now!

Unfortunately, it would take them awhile to get the luggage off of the plane. Almost an hour. Doh.

Grabbed a cab, back at CP at 8:05 pm, back in the room at 8:13 pm. Spent 6 hours at McCarran. Ugh. But more Vegas!!!

Watched the tail end of Game 2 in the room, and then we ventured out onto the Strip. Did some window shopping first.

Then decided on Earl of Sandwich for something quicker. But it took a LONG time to get our food. Almost 30 minutes, shit. And I had the Hawaiian BBQ with just chicken this time. That was much better. Of course no pic again...lol

Decided to hit up Cosmo because I had $10 in Identity Play that expired at midnight probably thanks to my $100+ loss at Cosmo when hanging out with @ted_nancy. But the Identity desk closed at 11 pm on weekdays. So I basically said fuck it and played on my card without the Identity Play. Went to Chandelier, and went to @Wiscolovesvegas's favorite machine as it was open.

Now when I tried to order a drink, I said to the bartender, named G, “Can you make me a raspberry lemon drop comped?” He said sure, and made it the “lazy way” with raspberry flavored vodka. And then, he proceeded to charge me for it. I said, “I asked you if I could get it COMPED.” He eventually conceded, and he'll let me go with this one. Well, it was either that or wasting a drink because I sure wasn't fucking going pay for it!

But I soon learned why @Wiscolovesvegas loves that machine! Sorry these pics sucked because of Chandelier.

Two quads! Right in front of G too!

    The “raspberry” lemon drop...

5X flush and near straight flush.

Now next to me was this “Minnesota Nice” granny in her early 70s. She was clearly new to video poker, playing dollar 8/5 Jacks or Better, so she was asking the person to the opposite side of her for advice. And unfortunately, the other person wasn't always giving the optimal play. She tended to lean her more aggressive, like 3 to a royal vs. a high pair. Maybe even 2 to a Royal vs. a low pair? That's a big mistake of course. But when I suggested my plays, the other person giving her advice sorta blew me off saying, “She's rich, she can afford it.”

Well, that other person “helping” her eventually left, and then I asked her if that was her daughter. She said, “No, just someone I started talking with.” Doh. Well, I did tell her that I didn't think the stranger's advice was very good and continued to help her. She actually was steering toward the optimal plays on her own anyway, more so than the stranger suggested.

I learned she was from Southwest Minnesota, and had returned to Vegas for the first time in awhile because her new boyfriend invited her to tag along for his daughter's (wedding?). Damn my memory without pictures. But she was clearly tipsy and when she needed to go to the bathroom, the boyfriend's daughter (I assume) was ready to assist her. While she went to the bathroom though, she asked me to watch her machine with ~$250 in it. And you DAMN better believe I watched her machine!!! At least no scum tried to steal her ticket. If they tried, they would have got a fucking earful from me!

All the while, M was on the floor, had “Leo the Lion”, and was able to get supplementary drinks from a good waitress. Like me at Circa, she was able to pull quads from a 2 to a spade royal draw. Just give us the royal dammit!!!

This machine is fucking horrible to take pics on too apparently.

    More quads for me!

Was about ready to receive my second ticket on this machine I assume, and then this happened.

Point this out to G, and he clearly doesn't give a fuck. No apology or no help on trying to get an attendant. Nothing.

But the Cosmo system to automatically notify attendants did work, but it took almost 15 minutes for someone to show up to help. Fuck, I would hate to imagine it on a weekend, or even worse, when they have a network system issue, which they have seemed to have had a lot of lately.

Yep a jam caused by my drink ticket award. I got 4 of these with barcodes on them. I joke with the slot attendant, “Well, maybe this is my reward for waiting. He said, “Maybe.”

But I apparently forgot my bartender was G.

I tried to use these new found tickets to get a specialty. He said, “I don't know if all those tickets will work.” Yeah, he would only take one because those tickets have an identical barcode. And I told him I had to wait nearly 15 minutes for my machine to get fixed as well. Basically a “not my problem” attitude again. Well, I submitted and asked him what might taste like a raspberry lemon drop that is only worth one ticket because I was fucking tired of drinking Space Dust as this point. He said a vodka sour. Meh, it was an okay substitute. I was probably too pissed off to even take a picture. Hell, I'm getting pissed off all over again writing it up. I tipped him a dollar even though I probably shouldn't have.

Eventually M came to the bar because she's bored and losing and then I rehashed the story to her. People gush over all the bartenders at Cosmo, but I swear I get all the dicks that “toe the line”. And he overheard me talking slash badmouthing him a bit. He said, well you could get drinks on the floor too. Well, no shit Sherlock, but my record with Cosmo waitresses had also sucked pretty bad up to this point. But as M said earlier, she had a decent waitress earlier, and she was still working. She didn't think she could get me the raspberry lemon drop, so I asked for another vodka sour, or maybe a space dust, I think. Without pics, my memory is now shot. But M was right she was consistent though. So now at least I'm buzzed.

Also speaking of Space Dust, I now know the best by bottle date HAS to be 6 months in the future because Cosmo had bottles with best by dates at least 4.5 months in advance. This is important for me to know because I think this beer falls off fast after 2 months. Because of this I haven't personally bought Space Dust for home in YEARS. I think I first realized this when I met @ted_nancy at Cosmo, but I already posted that part. lol

    Good start.

Day 10: Thurs. 6/17/21 Overtime in the City We Love

Got up around the normal time, 10ish. Since we had the extra time, we thought we should check out the pool at the hotel we were actually staying at! Went to the pool complex (right next to the Palace Tower!) about 11 am.

It's definitely a NICE pool area. But if they had hot tubs, we certainly could not find them. So that's a black mark for us. But we did find the swim-up blackjack, and they were fairly busy. I didn't bring money though. But I did like they had a seating ledge on the edge of the pool. We even had entertainment. A father and son were Greco-Roman wrestling in the pool near us. hahaha

On the way out, we found a sundial. It was pretty accurate too. I said the sundial looks to be about 12:10 pm. The timestamp of the pic is 12:09:43 pm.

Regrouped in the room, and we decided we would rather go to a pool we really liked. So planned to walk down to Cosmo Boulevard pool. We wanted to find some quick lunch first though. We considered Ocean One, but their wait was 35 minutes! So I decided on Chick-Fil-A and M got Taco Bell. We mostly have ran out of Vegas specific food we wanted to eat.

Get to Cosmo Boulevard pool. We were there a bit earlier than usual, so couldn't get a shallow lounger right away, so just sat in the pool that is mostly 10 inches deep except in the center. Probably better at that hour anyway because it was more shaded. Chatted with some nice people from Wisconsin and checked into our flight at the pool. Overall another great afternoon. But you've seen the pics on previous days already. I was hoping to meet up with @vegas erica while we were at Cosmo since she was due to arrive about 4 pm. But her own flight got delayed! Ugh. Next time hopefully!

Fountains on the way back to CP

We left the pool a little early because since it was Thursday again, Lemongrass was open and we still had a BOGO award available. And it was even better that we waited because we finally were able find a good time to catch up with @44inarow, whom I hoped to meet up with all trip. And since we waited so long, he had a surprise guest with him, @broncofn!

Got changed and eventually headed back toward Aria to go to dinner at Lemongrass. M snapped a pic of Bellagio patisserie along the way. “O” is coming back in July!

While M was trying to redeem the reward, I quickly meet up with @44inarow and @broncofn at Lift Bar for a quick drink. It definitely was nice to finally met @44inarow! I have always enjoyed his gaming industry insights. And it was also great to see @broncofn again!

Well, M got her award, and we were initially planning to go to dinner by ourselves. But they also said they hadn't ate yet, so we went to the hostess station, and they were able to change the reservation from 2 to 4. That was really nice because these were two guys I definitely wanted to talk to for more than just a few minutes in passing.

Since there were some Asian beers on the menu “new to me”, I was tempted to try a couple. @broncofn warned me they won't be the type of beer I usually drink, but I'm a gambler sometimes. Haha

First off, had a Sapporo (4.9%; 3.5 sips)

This was mostly what I expected. It reminded me of a Budweiser mostly, which isn't the worst thing. But certainly not worth the Vegas markup price.

We shared some pork potstickers, and chicken wings and I thought those were pretty good

M got Sweet and Sour Chicken, and I got the Basil Chicken at spice level 3.

@broncofn had seabass and offered a bite to me. I usually hate fish, but this had less of a fishy taste than I was used to, so I thought it was pretty good. @44inarow had a dish with duck in it, and offered a bite as well, it tasted good, but not sure I am as big of a fan of the texture of duck.

During dinner it was really nice to chat with both of them and talk about all different kinds of topics.

I really enjoyed my food, and maybe I could have handled spice level 4 or 5, but the spice might have overpowered the other flavors if I went too high.

Unfortunately, M wasn't a big fan of her dish. It was overdone to her. Bleh.

Service was at a bit of a relaxed pace, so my beer glass was empty so...I got an Asahi Super Dry (5%; 3.25 sips). Similar to the first. Maybe a bit more dry and bitter. I was too distracted by good company to take a pic of this beer apparently...whoops.

Then after dinner bronco wanted to play a little VP with me at the bar. @44inarow needed to get going home. It was nice meeting you though! @broncofn wanted to try VP out with me around, so if he wasn't sure of something, he could ask me. He hadn't played much VP in the past.

He got off to a good start starting with 6/5 Bonus at quarters (playing the game because I suggested it). Hitting decent hands with high frequency and even quad Kings, he was up nearly $50 in short order. I, on the other hand, picked a cold unit, boo. My Dogfish Head 60 minute IPAs only a mild consolation. Then he wanted to bump up denomination and try DDB for a bit. Overall he mostly knew the right plays. He seemed to only question on the closer choices. Unfortunately, his machine was cooling off a bit. M and I couldn't hit anything. Blah. Seeing it was after 11 pm, we thought we should try to get going back toward Caesars. It was great hanging out with you two!

Our session together might have convinced @broncofn to add a little video poker in his gambling repertoire. He sent me these hits from Wynn a couple of days later. I'm bad for being a “crack” pusher...

    Walked back to CETDorado land.

I suggested to go to the Linq for a bit, and M was fine with it but her legs weren't being super happy with her again. Unfortunately, she was still hungry too. She ran off to In-N-Out while I hit up Rematch at Linq. Their taps were screwed up too. So I settled for a Sculpin again.

On the 2nd hand though, more “Wankers”!

Get back to CP about one, and we sat in the same section we did the other day. The same waitress was there.

    Uh oh...

We found a different unit with the same game nearby though. Drinks were coming by quick again, and the daiquiri glasses and water bottles were piling up a bit. I was trying to rearrange the glasses; the waitress noticed this and called me “Mommy's little helper” when she asked me what I wanted to drink. Hahahaha

Unfortunately M wasn't doing too well, and she was tempted to go up to the room and use the tub a bit. She was willing to let me cut loose though. You all know how I am the last night. hahaha

Once M left, I found a “Cats” machine that was treating me very well.

9 Panthers two ways! Definitely my biggest slot hit for the trip.

That hit was at 2:15 am, and I noticed my new favorite waitress hadn't been around in awhile. So I am afraid it was the dreaded “shift change”. With that in mind, I decided to go to a place that I would rather play at, Linq.

But first there were openings at the bar at O'Shea's, so I was able to procure a frozen Bailey's from Matt, my favorite overnight bartender there. But he was too busy to chat with this time.

Eventually I took my drink and went to the Linq “VP Punishment Corner” to play around with smaller stakes for a bit. Eventually moved back to Catalyst Bar for one last stab.

    Nice 5X Trips

Thank you sir may I have another? Pretty brutal 25 minutes in-between though.

Second quad of the night! Pretty sure I shoved a hundo in there though, so balance was misleading. 4:34 am now.

I asked the overnight bartender, Jessica, if she knew what happened to Dan, my favorite bartender at Catalyst. Dan would always procure bottles from TAG after they were closed if you wanted them. And after TAG closed, he made a “secret stash” of TAG beers to keep at Catalyst if customers asked for them. I raided a good amount of the collection on my Sept. 2018 trip. She told me that he moved to Missouri because his wife got a new job there. Unfortunately, she didn't know which part of the state. Was hoping to bump into him again. Boo.

I was one Jack-off from winning for the trip. :(

    Still no straight flush.

Out too late again. A picture of abandoned shoes at 5:10 am. Wtf?

Went to bed around “civil twilight” again!

I guess we'll let you join...
Day 11: Fri. 6/18/21 Third Time's the Charm?

Well, since I came back drunk at 5 am, obviously I was shitty at ~10 am. But we had to go unfortunately. Showered, packed up, and get ready to leave. Before leaving though, I thought maybe it was a good idea to ask for a complimentary late check-out on the phone playing Mr. @ted_nancy, so then we wouldn't have to drag the bags with us for lunch. Yeah, I was able to get a 2 pm checkout complimentary. But unfortunately, my sweetheart had a nice, anxious moment. What if they didn't code the checkout right, and we got locked out? At that moment the real Mr. @ted_nancy was at Green Valley Ranch with a cabana to do remote work, and he would be highly inconvenienced if we got locked out. Sigh... And it's already happened to us once this trip. So I didn't argue and we dragged the bags to lunch, which was at Chipotle between Harrah's and Casino Royale.

Picked up a cab at Harrah's quickly and got to McCarran with ample time to spare.

So much time that I had time to play a bit more. And there was a 50 play STP machine with a “couple seat”, perfect.

Third 4 to a royal draw this trip at 1:39 pm. Could I convert one and extend my Vegas trip winning streak to EIGHT?!?!

NOW I get a straight flush... and I'd rather have the royal! Sheesh!

Flight was set to depart at 3:25 pm. It's completely full. It's over 115 degrees. So...

We're too heavy to fly in these conditions. Seriously?!?! Ugh. So they had to remove freight from the plane to lighten the load. That plane was definitely hot. Blah. They re-did the math and we were just under the threshold.

We were still on the tarmac after 5 pm.

But soon after 5 pm, we were finally able to take off thankfully! Well, unless we could have got a cheap room in Vegas over the weekend. ;) I mostly watched Game 4 of the Knights/Canadiens series. It was fortunately on USA Network, so Southwest TV had it on. It pretty much occupied me for the whole flight. Unfortunately, the 5:45 pm non-stop to Midway was on time and only a half-hour behind us. If we only knew.

    We mostly closed out Midway.

    Day 11:
    LAS -$10

    Day 11 Total: -$10
    Trip Total: -$306.97

Even though we had many trials and tribulations this trip, we still had a lot of fun! It's obviously our longest trip BY FAR, but we STILL didn't do everything we would have liked to this trip!!! We have already started talking about another possible Vegas trip over M's birthday, which is nearly an annual tradition. It's a bummer my Vegas trip winning streak ended at seven, but it's pretty hard to win that many in a row! Hope to see Vegas again in September!

    Thanks for reading everyone!

Great write up. You’ve got some serious beer fueled stamina. If I make it to 5am just a single night of the trip I am so screwed the rest of the way. Getting too old for that. Haha.

So last time I was in Vegas I went to text you about something. Turns out the number I have saved under your name is a limo driver I had.

OMG. I knew you had flight issues but not like that. Awesome that a friend could help you out-that room looks great. Southwest has been nothing but problems for me lately.

I miss having PTO like that-it’s great that M was able to do that and have a cool room for a little extra time in Vegas on the first trip.

This TR was BRILLIANT!!! Omg, every detail made me remember why I love Vegas sooooo damn much!!! I loved every high and low and your attention to detail and brutal honesty… simply amazing!!!
That machine at Cosmo….. she’s a beauty and can be very kind…. Or …. Breakdown ( which did happen a few times during my past trip )…. Were some of the buttons still tricky? Like you push for the hold and it wouldn’t hold? It was driving me crazy!! But alas I LOVE THAT MACHINE!! Ugh hate to hear about a bad experience on the drink/service side. BOO!! I just think labor issues etc are effecting everyone. Hopefully our trip will align one of these times and I promise we will have a blast at Chandy!!!

Every time I order Basil Chicken at Lemongrass I ask for a 7 and have to convince the waiter I actually want it spicy. I must have asbestos on my tongue, it is super rare for me to say something is too spicy.

Sometimes the best trips are the the ones that don't work out as planned and you just go with the flow.
