I disagree, some policies are changed by social media attention. It depends on the level of attention and corporate fatigue inflicted (how much effort and cost to counter the push back). I have sat in sales meetings for a major technology company, and watched us pitch tools in analytics that score social media impact and how to figure that into risk analysis for quarterly sales. Social business is a huge market right now, and companies are spending large sums to manage it's effect.

A Prime example of recent case, the PGP parking issue on social media raised awareness of fees. While it didn't eliminate the fees, it definitely shaped policy, deferred fees for some customers, and influenced other resort operators policy definition. Social media / internet blogging can force unwanted attention on an issue. There is also a source of history kept on the internet, since google and other big data mining engines archive the internet.
There is always some lasting record online. Remember the quote from The Social Network. "The internet is written in ink."

Is the internet going to solve all issues, no. It does however allow grass root efforts to quickly mobilize, get information out quickly. It does influence business opinion or at least raise issue acknowledgement. It's an incredible tool even if it doesn't always have the desired long term effect. You don't see that level of impact by writing a terse letter to corporate HQ or CEO.

And you can bet they ALL know what their competitors are doing. They just don't want too many of us to know.

In my opinion, @justmare is 100% within her constitutionally guaranteed right of free speech to share the details of her gambling experience in this forum, to talk about it with anyone she sees fit, or to have it printed in the NY Times if she wants. She is not slandering Cosmo in any way....only relaying facts.
Does Cosmo have rights too? Yes. They can ban her from the casino, rescind her players club membership, etc. They can request that she not share this information as a courtesy to them, but they in no way can prevent her from sharing it, as long as she is willing to walk away from her relationship with Cosmo.
We now live in an Information Age like nothing we've ever seen before. There are advantages and disadvantages to this, and definitely consequences. One advantage is how quickly we can get direct consumer feedback on every kind of experience. I have made many decisions based on researching consumer feedback.
Smart business leaders are actively mining this data and using it to truly improve the consumer experience and provide recovery where possible.
I truly hope that what happened here is a result of a couple of people making a bad decision, and not the organization as a whole.

Went to Horseshoe Baltimore to pay off my markers. Had $2975 in freeplay to use, turned it into $2025 in half a shoe of blackjack, grabbed some lunch and am back home now.

This whole thing boggles my mind because wasn't it Cosmo that was matching comp offers at one time? There were hosts in this board pretty much "stealing" players from other casinos by matching the offer?? I'm confused, you can't have it both ways Cosmo. Treat people well and they will come back.

I've been thinking of trying that place out but haven't since they don't have a hotel attached. Do you stay overnight somewhere close when playing there? That is a shit ton of Freeplay, BTW!

I live in Baltimore and I go to Horseshoe can't decide if I like it or not. Most of the time I think the slots are super tight and drinks are crazy expensive. Just wondering what you think.

They will put you in a hotel like Sheraton. Ive stayed overnight a couple times. I only live an hour away. You can think of it as a mini vacay since its basically in the inner harbor. You can also catch an Orioles or Ravens game.

Regarding my freeplay, if you read some of my tr's, im a degen lol. My host gave me $2500 and I had $475 more ontop.

I hardly go to locals, Charlestown and MGM are closer to me. I dont play slots so I cant comment on those. I dont think there is really anything wrong with horseshoe, good restaurants, gaming and it is very clean.

@DirtyShirley at the airport right now waiting for my flight to Vegas. Although I could check the spring fling thread to possibly find the answer to this question, I'd rather not take a week to look thru over 3,000 posts! How did you do on your 5k FP at Cosmo! Congrats BTW!!!

I think I converted it to maybe 4400 or so on the next trip, then blew it all
