Hello and thank you in advance. Traveling to Vegas in a couple of weeks with a group of family members. Some are newbies. Some are not high dollar gamblers. We're all staying at Cosmo. Looking for a fun and friendly craps table for the gang that is in the $5 to $10 range. Early morning. On the strip, if possible. Any ideas?

Maybe the TI (Treasure Island)? Their table game limits are pretty reasonable for "on the Strip," but I rarely shoot dice these days so this is hearsay advice, not personal experience.

Staying at the Cosmo ? Nice! You happen to be staying at one of the most expensive casinos in Las Vegas, so they won’t be offering $5 craps. The nearest place to you that may offer this is Ellis Island. It’s not quite on the strip, but it is basically behind Horseshoe (the old Ballys). For the early morning session, they also have a breakfast for under $10 but I’d recommend Egg Slut in the Cosmo.

I think the only places I saw 5.00 Craps in Dec was Ellis Island...you *may* find a place downtown but doubtful. I know Golden Nugget has 5.00 Blackjack, 5.00 Roulette, 5.00 Three Card Poker, 5.00 Ultimate Texas Holdem. I think craps was 10-15.00 at Golden Nugget. Nearer to you, I know Cromwell had some 5.00 tables but no 5.00 craps, 10 was the minimum. And maybe someone can weigh in, but maybe OYO has 5.00 craps???

My recommendation is to try one of those bubble craps machines. Many casinos now have either the group bubble crap machine or the individual bubble crap machines. If you play the group crap machine everyone can play together like on the regular crap table. The individual bubble crap machine everyone has their own bubble crap dice so can play at their own speed. Not sure about the group bubble crap but the individual crap machines are $3 minimum so newbies can learn the game without having to spend a lot of money.

Once they learn the game they can try the tables and higher minimums but the bubble crap machines are great for people learning the game (without spending a lot of money).

Actually I have been turned off by the high minimum tables so now I'm playing the bubble crap machines over the regular tables. Previously I was a red chip $5 table player but even the downtown boyd casinos only offer $15 (sometimes $10 but not often) tables. I refuse to play $15 tables so I end up playing the bubble machines more. Great for me, $100 goes a long way on those machines whereas it won't last very long on $15 tables.

Beware though, the bubble machines only offer 2x odds (unlike places like Main St Station which offers up to 20x odds).

With hotels like Boyd getting tighter on comps I won't gamble on the higher minimum tables just to try for a comp.

Thank you all for your responses. Appreciate you taking the time. We do play bubble craps quite often and enjoy it very much, but looking for an actual dice on the table experience for folks. Sounds like GN downtown or Cromwell on the Strip might be good options for lower limit table games, but not low limit craps. We'll explore.
