It looks like there will be enough people in town, and I have secured a foreign agent, so LET'S GET IT ON!
May 20th Edit: Please note the start times have been moved to 6:00pm for the M&G and 7:00pm for the group pull, to accommodate the CP fireworks if they end up being on the 4th.

June 18 Edit: Due to time constraints, we have to cap entries at 30. There is currently one open entry left. Please see post #50.

Basics (this sounds like a shitload of rules, but it's really a FAQ without the Qs):
    • $200 buy in. Be prepared mentally to lose it all (Results from 4 prior pulls were:
      • 14 players, broke even, one $1,000+ hit
      • 21 players, busted out
      • 12 players, $50 win per player, a couple of large sub-handpay hits
      • 14 players, $60 loss per player, one $1,200 handpay
    • You can partner with someone if $200 is too much
    • You can buy more than one share if you want
    • Friends and family welcome to buy in or just watch
    • We collect the cash and determine the order of the pull right before it starts. We keep two envelopes - one for the unplayed pool money and the other to bank TITOs after each player finishes
    • Each player selects their own machine, denom, etc., but we do want to stay within a relatively small area. Unless we have a really small group, we won't actually be inside the HL room, but just outside it. Cosmo discourages large groups inside HL, and security at Venetian got antsy the last time we were there . The area just outside HL has a good variety of machines at $1 - $5 denoms (and maybe higher) that can be played at a high per spin amount.
    • Each player decides when to bank their winnings, stop early, or play down to zero. These tend to be obvious choices in the moment.
    • We have a player who has no tax liability and is not subject to withholding, we will use that person's card for all spins and he will press the button (at the direction of the player if desired) to make sure we don't get busted on a technicality
    • $20 tip from the pool for any ordinary handpays; players are free to tip more out of pocket if desired. We can probably agree on something larger if we have a massive hit.
    • Meet & Greet at 6:00pm, at one of the Cosmo bars. Probably Clique, since it's right next to the HL room. But I have to scope it out a little more to determine if it's the best choice. Chandelier would be 2nd choice, especially if I can reserve part of level 1.5
    • At the M&G, we'll have a drink or two and around 6:45pm, collect the pool money, and draw cards to determine the order of the pull. You're welcome to come to both the M&G and pull without committing to buying into the slot pool. I'll buy a round for whoever's there at 6:15.
    • If you arrive after we've determined the play order, we'll add you to the bottom
    • The pull will begin at 7:00pm.
    • We will hold up a short amount of time for stragglers if we know you are on your way before 7:00pm, otherwise we start on time. Once the first spin occurs, no more new participants
    • Plan for about 5 minutes per player. Between 60 - 90 mins depending on how many players. If necessary this can be sped up by a few methods, I do think it can get a little boring for people at the beginning or end of the order if there is a large group
    • When the last player finishes, we cash the TITOs and distribute the cash back to players. To make the math easier, we'll round off to something like the nearest $5 or $10 per player and then burn off the rest in one last-ditch set of spins. For example, on one pull we had 14 players and ended up with $2,850-something. So instead of returning $203.57 to everybody, everybody got $200 back and then we burned off the $50-something
    • Although I do want to gauge interest and get informal commitments in this thread for planning purposes, you don't have to hard RSVP in advance; if you show up with cash before the first spin occurs, you're in.
    • If you're planning on coming and you already know what your headcount will be for the M&G and the slot pull, let me know. I'll chase down any missing numbers a week or so ahead of the day.
    • For people arriving on the 5th or 6th, sorry, but foreign agent is only available on the 4th
    • Drink Service: Don't expect drink service from the floor CWs during the pull. I'm not saying it's impossible, but you have to understand we're not really putting much more money through than a single person would, so the casino doesn't wanna shell out 20x the drinks, lol. We did get good drink service at Venetian once, but that was an exception.

I'm going to have to work some magic with the better half to get there for July 4 :( We'll see what kind of offers materialize after our May trip and what the flights look like around then, and use her July 10 birthday as an excuse.

And if you ever need a foreign agent to push the button when our paths cross - I'm in!

The 3rd and 4th can be cheap days to fly, depending on where you are of course. The 4th isn't looking quite as cheap as usual this year, I think because it's close enough to the weekend that a lot of people are burning vacation days on the 5th.

    Hope you can make it...

Shortly before reading this we just booked 7/3 - 7/6, and I've been known to be a social, jovial, outgoing type of fellow...

Hope you can make it...I think we're at about 10 people so far, but soft commitments because it's still early.

Unfortunately, I got some family commitments for July 4th so there is no chance I can make it to Vegas.

A group slot pull sounds pretty awesome. I have never been a part of one so I am hoping I get the change sometime. Perhaps over labor day when I am in Las Vegas.

Wondering if you might wanna push the timetable up, just a smidge. Since it is the 4th of July, Caesars has fireworks scheduled for 9:15 and Mandalay has one later at 10:30. Might get a few more folks if it wasn't such a time crunch to get a good viewing spot for those...

Yes, I'm probably going to push it up an hour so the M&G will be at 6:00pm and the slot pull will start at 7:00pm. Just trying to 100% verify that CP is doing theirs on the 4th, because they've been doing them on the weekend the past few years when the holiday falls in the middle of the week. Certain things point to them having them on the 4th this year, but there's nothing on their website, nothing's been in the LVRJ yet, and third party sites aren't 100% reliable.

I'm going to try to nail it down today.

OK I talked to two people at CET and got "I dunnos", and I don't want to spend any more time chasing that, so we'll move the start time up to 6:00pm for the M&G and 7:00pm for the group pull. I edited the OP.

Might be the safest bet you'll make this trip. For what its worth every 3rd party site I found had the same details for Caesars and Mandalay that I referenced.

I found a Things to Do in Vegas on the 4th of July page on the Total Rewards page. They reference the fireworks but don't confirm the time. I emailed asking for confirmation, 3-5 days for a response.
