I am going to get a 1/2 lb. of Turkey lunch meat, some powdered Turkey gravy, instant mashed potatoes, canned green beans and a small can of cranberry sauce. Beverage will be Coors Banquet in a plastic frozen mug.

Are you more pathetic than me?

Eff it! I'll watch the 0 and 8 Lions and swear I'm having a good time.

Side note: I just recently reached 72 years, 10 months, which makes me older than my Dad was when he passed. Happy Thanksgiving, Dad!!!

Your dinner still sounds edible, at least. Last year at my daughter-in-law's home, hubs and I went to bed hungry. Everything she made was either burnt, undercooked, or hard as a rock (those rolls were lethal weapons). This year, I'm bringing some side dishes. Hubs said "thank gawd we won't starve this time".

The important question is, whole berry sauce, or the jellied kind?

Def jelly. I also adjusted at the Giant and will make green bean casserole.

Honestly, that sounds like a pretty solid Thanksgiving.

We have yet to make the transition to the kids hosting holiday meals. Mrs MN has family bring deserts and she does the rest. It’s a tough couple of days, but it’s worth the effort. I’ve become somewhat of a sous chef, helping with peeling veges, stirring gravies, etc.

Nothing in a can comes close to cooking fresh cranberries in apple juice. After boiling for a bit, they pop and as they cook down, they thicken. Chill for several hours before serving.

Find an Earl of Sandwich, their Thanksgiving one is awesome lol

I'll be at work and I'll probably just eat a cup of microwaved soup, so yours isn't the saddest

Personally, my favorite Thanksgiving dish in the world is my late grandmother's sweet potato pie. Canned yams (it's better that way, trust me), little bit of orange juice, bit of crushed pineapple for flavor and texture, top with marshmallow and bake until browned. It got to the point where she and my mother would make two, one for dinner, the other for me to take back to my apartment.

I'll second this. It's not my favorite Thanksgiving sandwich, but it's pretty decent. I also remember when BLT Burger at Mirage used to have their Thanksgiving burger, but it was only for a couple days and they'd sell out by noon or so.

There is something wrong with your country. Those chips have "FARCE" right in the name.

Breeze147 - when you crack open that can of green beans toss some French's (Durkee?) canned crisp onion rings and you will eat like a king, eat like a king. On a more serious note, back in about 61 or 62 a dinner for my Sister my Mother and me was to split a can of french style green beans and two slices of bread with butter (my Old Man was away on "a special mission for the Army" - didn't see him again for almost two years).

What is it with Canadians and weird potato chip flavors (flavours)?

In their defense, the USA is not exactly best-of-class when it comes to adding flavors to things that did not need those flavors.

This was the biggest abomination ever! Even I couldn’t eat them and I loved chips as a kid.

I don't understand. Aren't you guys still part of the Commonwealth? Don't you technically have a monarch? Or at least an adult in the room who should have been present when someone said, "Hey, great idea! Let's make grape-flavored potato chips!" and responded by removing that someone from the chip-flavor committee?

@Breeze147, if there's one thing this thread has demonstrated, your Thanksgiving dinner is not only not pathetic, but actually pretty damn good in comparison to some of what's been bandied about here.
