Congrats on the Win! Rivers Casino near the airport is fun with a good Steakhouse. May be worth checking out on your way out of town.

There's not really any set strategy for the progression. I may increase the bet by 25%, 50%, or 100%. If I get three wins in a row I'm usually up to where I want to be and keep the bet constant until I lose. I usually lose a very large bet at the end of my progression and then color up and leave. It would be nice to be able to time that last bet without losing it, but my philosophy is "as long as the horse is running I need to be riding it". If I reduce the bet and would keep winning I would be kicking myself thinking of the opportunity cost, or the money I should have been winning had I kept my bet at the higher level.

One of my favorite things is a winning streak at the end of a shoe where I win the last few hands, including the last hand, and then I color up usually. I just haven't been staying that long the past few trips to get to the end of a shoe very often.

Blackjack, like all casino games, is a negative EV game, although not by too much if the rules are good and you play proper basic strategy. You can also notice (without necessarily "counting") if a lot of high cards or low cards have come out. For me, I think the keys to my being able to leave with some nice consistent table wins recently are:

    1) Having the bankroll to take enough shots at playing until I can string together enough wins in a row with progressive bets to get a nice stack of chips.
    2) Short sessions and leaving when I'm up. How many of us have been up on a trip only to give it all back and then some? I know I have plenty of times.
    3) Bet variance and timing. Ok, for the most part the timing is just luck, but there are definitely streaks in blackjack where you win or lose a few (or many) hands in a row. When I lose a few hands in a row I am cutting my bets way back, maybe even to table minimum, until I win at least one hand. Sometimes, in addition, on a losing streak I may switch from one to two hands (or vice versa), or hop to another table. If I were to just flat bet and not vary my bets, I'm pretty sure I would lose 90% of my sessions and any winning sessions would not be that big. The table limits I prefer are $200 min with $10k max. This gives me a large enough range to vary my bets enough to take advantage of winning streaks and to minimize damage from losing streaks.

On the winning streaks, I am trying to capitalize by raising my bets. There are always pivotal double downs and splits that suck if you lose and are awesome when you win!

I also prefer to play alone at a table. They say that other players making bad plays doesn't really affect you because some times it helps you and sometimes it hurts you, so it evens out. I'm not really a believer in this. I don't want to be able to blame anyone else for the outcome of my game except me. It isn't good for me mentally, to get mad at others (I mostly keep my thoughts/feelings to myself in these situations).

Congrats on the win! That is a fantastic 2.5 hrs for sure.

Yeah all steakhouses at casinos in NWI are closed Monday and Tuesday. Must not be demand for it. The horseshoe's steakhouse is really good though.
