Vegas minus 4, Shells, Shoes, Shows and SouthWest..Part 2, or.. N'Oleans -1, MrsDRP's turn

So if you followed my "Vegas minus 4, Shells, Shoes, Shows and SouthWest" TR back in May, you may recall that Vegas in May was 'my trip', New Orleans in June is MrsDRP's trip....tit for tat, you know...A few of you suggested that you would like to see a TR for this trip as well, so...here goes..at least, here goes the start of a TR, not sure if the NO environment will be amenable to a TR - we have a tendency to drink and dance and make a bit more fools of ourselves in NO than we do in Vegas....Anyway...

Hopes / Itinerary:
Snag another decent seat line up position for our second Southwest trip..the last one worked out very well.

Staying at Harrah's just outside the fringes of the French Quarter, partially comped, with hopes of a full comp on the back end...

Get a beignet at Cafe du Monde this trip...previous trips we've skipped it just cause the darn lines were so long... this trip, promise to suffer the wait... (it's just a funny named piece of bread after all )

My first ever trip to Harrah's NOLA, I had 2 monster craps rolls on consecutive days - 55 minutes, then about an hour and 15 mins... Never happened since - try and recreate at least one more of those...

MrsDRP hit a hand pay ....she's yet to have one....

Accompany MrsDRP to lots and lots of bars and bands.... Drink quite a bit more than we should...Dance with MrsDRP when no other options are available.

Obligatory carriage ride on Sunday morning, including the always haunting cemetery tour.

Attend the "New Orleans Pride" parade on Saturday night... We stumbled upon a similar parade over Easter a few years ago, and it was a blast.

More bars and music.... and dancing when necessary

Try to find food that MrsDRP will eat... She loves NOLA, but not the food so much..

Watch the Belmont Stakes

Visit the Spotted Cat Music Club on Frenchman Street.

......In reality, we'll probably gamble a bit, go to a lot of bars, and go to the parade... About a 10% chance of any of the rest...

So the first win of the trip earlier today as I prepped for our *second* Southwest trip... Our flight is at Noon, so I had to defer my lunch so I could dutifully sit in front of my computers and keep clicking on the Check In button exactly 24 hours ahead.... Paid off, plus I may have lost a pound by deferring eating....



Score!!!!!!!!!!! Just like we need the Golden Knights to do as I write this ... (currently 4-3 Caps)...

Which was followed when I arrived home by the first "Oh Shit" of the trip...when I repeatedly attempted to open our el-cheapo home safe to get out our NOLA Harrah's bank rol,l and all the safe gave me was the finger.....



After an anxious 45 minutes of frantic searching, I finally found the 'emergency' key... Would have been a drag to go to Harrah's NOLA with no bankroll... bankroll intact....(note to self - change the batteries every few years or so)

Packing is complete, and as with our May Vegas trip, my lucky tokens will be accompanying me to the craps tables once again, since they worked so well last month (for those of you who didn't read the previous TR, there's a bit of sarcasm intended)

Gold dollar, lucky Vegas found heads up penny, PBR 10 of spades cap, really cool orange seashell...

I'm feeling a 2 hour craps roll in my future...sure glad I'm not superstitious.....

So we begin our journey at 7:30 AM when we drop off this one at Doggie Camp...


Yes, she's already spotted the suitcases, thus the excitement...... Not!.....And then the 2+ hour drive to Raleigh, with an arrival in NOLA at 1PM.......

Our Lyft driver just informed us that it's not only Pride parade weekend, it's also Naked Bike Run weekend... not exactly sure what to think about that one.... Mrs DRP forgot to bring her bike

 

Now Nick.... both MrsDRP and i work for a French owned company... i'm guessing that means... "let the good times roll"??!!

Decent room... a little small...but clean and a good sized bathroom with shower and oversized tub.... and a fantastic view of.... the Loews hotel next door

MrsDRP says "lets hit the casino for a bit"... who am i to argue???
