Every now and then you hit Vegas and everything you touch seems to win. Within a short time, you find yourself way up, and a few days left to go on your trip.

I likely have tried all of the above- sometimes it feels like the kiss of death! I prefer my big wins at the end of the trip!!

I tell the DH.. If he is aware.. I can't blow it all back in. Hand pays help because I have to fess up to those for tax purposes. I prefer winning big the night before we leave..I head to bed bound and determined not to give it back.

If I do get a big win, I definitely prefer it at the end of a trip. Too many times I have been up 5-figures within the first couple days...only to give it all back and then another 5-figures by the end of a trip. This usually occurs when I have longer weeklong trips, so I actually kind of dread those long trips now...which I have one coming up very soon:/

Winning early and losing is a gut-wrenching feeling. Losing early and then hitting big at the end, even if you still end the trip in the red, is a much better feeling...even though both scenarios result in a loss.

I do my best to shut down the gambling. Problem is, some trips I have kept playing after a huge first day and just kept on winning. But that is a problem because it makes me start thinking I am invincible and I then have trips where I win big for a day or two and then blow it up on the last day. My worst example was about a year and a half ago. Five day trip. I was up $90k after four days. Rather than quit, I decided I wanted to go for a six figure win. After day five and a lot of reckless betting, I went home down $50k :(. So I try to stick with the lock it in the room safe approach, but its hard some trips

I have no discipline. If I win big early I just play more. Every trip I tell myself that half of all my jackpots will not be played back. It's never worked. For my trip coming up in 2 weeks I'm going to be much more disciplined..... Ha.

Hmmm...maybe I should start requesting checks for every other handpay...or every third handpay. I'll try that in a couple weeks! I hope I didn't jinx myself into not getting more than 3 handpays...that would suck...lol

I usually have my handpays added to my FM account so don't get checks but Last trip at Mandalay after I hit a reasonably large handpay the slot attendant asked if I wanted a check. Before I responded (and I hope I misheard or misunderstood this) he said - only one check allowed per guest per stay! I hope this isn't a new policy as getting checks certainly would make the money hard to spend.

Ha, didn't even have that one on the poll! Very smart. Like that you PLAN for the big win by actually creating a SASE!!

Yes, that's been our kiss of death -the early wins. Makes you feel like you have SO much money, surely you will get some other big wins- right?!? Hope this thread gives us all some good ideas!

Well, it hasn't really happened to me yet. I got extraordinarily lucky on my last trip and hit (for me) big in my last HOUR. Got my cash and went straight to the airport. Now that was perfect :)

With good sized wins, I do try and stick the cash in the safe though. I only go out with a limited amount and then if I have to go back to the room to re-up, well, it slows me down. And that's a good thing!

    A lot of them
Winning at the end of a trip is my preference. Two years ago I went to Atlantic City and stayed at Harrahs. It was one of my usual nightmare trips slot wise. I checked out and with luggage in hand I was walking through the casino to catch a cab to the airport. I stopped at a Bier Haus machine and put a hundred in it and hit the max button ($2.50 bet) once, twice, and on the third spin I hit a 70 spin bonus with sticky wilds (ten of them) positioned nicely that gave me at least five of a kind every spin. Ended up with a $3300 hand pay which I was forced to pocket because I couldn't miss my flight. Still didn't get me even but it sure helped a lot and made the trip home a happy one. This has only happened to me one time folks.

In fourteen trips, it hasn't really happened to me either. I have had much better luck with the "comeback win". Day 1 in Vegas has been historically bad for me. I have had a couple of tiny wins on Day 1, but that's it. I've had two Tunica trips where I got off to a great start. In those trips, I basically just kept playing the way I planned to play from the start and the excess I took home as profit.

It rarely happens for me, but I would have to say it depends how much. I'm a pretty low roller, so if I am up a grand or 2, I have good intentions but usually all or most of it is gone by the end of the trip.

I had one trip where I hit for a bit over $10,000 the very first night. I took a check for $9000, tipped out a couple hundred (gave $40 to the cleaning girl and another $40 to the cocktail waitress and they were both so happy it made my day) and added the rest to my bankroll. I managed to spend every penny of that bankroll AND took a walk of shame, but as that is nothing out of the ordinary for me, I still brought that nine grand home!

Oh, I also spent a few bucks on a bottle of champagne just for me since it was a M&G trip, but I got there a night early and was all by my lonesome. What a way to start a trip!

Back in Dec I was up large (compared to BR) after a couple roulette sessions. At that time I got a check for 10k to lock in a decent win.
If my BR for a trip is 6k and on the 1st day I win 2-3k, that money most likely becomes part of my BR and i take shots at higher limits. If I were to be up 5-10k I would try to get a check again but no way am I locking it down and not gambling after the 1st day.
So ideally a win on last day would guarantee taking home monies

(should clarify - that 10k check was for 1 night trip) so easy decision.

I don't think I have ever had a "big" win early in the trip. This last trip, I was in the hole 5-6K when I got back to back handpays for almost 11K, so while I was up now, it wasn't huge and I just put that in the bankroll. In the end, I am chasing huge wins, so unless it is significant, it just becomes more ammo to fire away and I spend move time at the machines. I have hit a couple large hits on tables near the beginning or middle and will lock up a good bit of that and stop playing the tables and just take a bigger shot at VP. How was that for a non-answer? LOL

What ever bank roll I have I'm ready to lose. I have been up $$$$$ on the first day and man it felt good. BUT, all I do is add it to my BR. If I lose (don't try to) the $$$$$ so be it. I consider breaking even or a small loss after all is said and done a win. After all it's vegas. Thankfully over the past many many trips where I was up early (maybe 20% of the trips) I came home a winner 90% of the time.. Discipline! Ok and mucho luck... Now, let's pray!

My thumbs are big so please excuse the typos..
