What kind of slot do you prefer high frequency hit or HP bonuses

There seems to be a trend happening (at least with the theme licensed games) of newer slots having lower pay lines and higher frequency bonuses vs higher volatility / higher payback slots.

What I mean by this is that the game manufacturers are figuring into the psychology of the gambler and tuning games to hit and pay at a frequency which offers lower opportunity for a big jackpot in favor of smaller wins to increase player seat time.

While I personally don't mind that in cases of large progressives or for accruing comp dollars at low risk of ruin, I find it boring that some of the new games I have seen offered such piddly pays for a screen full of top symbols.
For myself anyway I find myself shifting to high denomination games or high volatility / high reward (Think $1 Cleo2, WW2, older IGT video slots at .25 denomination).

So that brings me to my question, do you enjoy grinding away at low denomination small win slots to pass the time and be entertained? or Do you prefer slots with the very infrequent but HUGE win potential slot bonuses?

At the moment I tend to gravitate to the new high volatility games like Buffalo Gold, Jackpot Inferno, Buffalo Grand and Walking Dead 2, but when wanting to sit with a friend and just have a fun session and a drink I like those low volatility entertainment games. I think the more casual gamers who seldom go to the casino like my Mom who only gambles in Vegas a couple times a year and only then, prefers a game that is entertaining them by giving them constant low wins and sometimes the surprise of a good win. Generally if a game hasn't given Mom and some of my other friends who are like her a win by the 4th spin they are on to the next game. :) So I'm thinking that while the game manufacturer's are busy figuring out the psychology of the gambler they are finding out there are two distinct types and trying to make games for both groups and hoping there's a 3rd group of gamblers out there that possibly wants skill base gaming in the future.

I do prefer a high volatility game, however I will lose interest in a game if I'm getting zero hits along the way. I don't mind starting off with a higher buy in on a machine knowing it may take a bit more to get something happening, but some games- like WW3 comes to mind- where I can throw in $100 and seemingly get zero hits. I don't need things to hit constantly, but need some frequency to keep it interesting. I don't care at all for the high hit low pay games as it feels like there's not even a jackpot to be excited about in there to keep bothering to play.

Ww3 is probably game I play the most often. Not necessarily dollar wise - I will throw in a couple hundred a day on it if I'm in Vegas. 1st hundred is to lose in 1 minute and the second to confirm what just happened

In all honesty, this is probably one of the few slots I can absolutely say I am up on. I have an almost 10k hp on it (2.50 bet) and probably another random total of hp that add up to another 10k. I almost always use my fp on this game and usually at .05 denom 10$/spin to try and catch lightning in a bottle.

I don't mind the frequent return machines if I'm playing with someone and just want to sit awhile. But there's a limit. Like the 2-cent line hits and such on dollar-ish bets at penny slots. It feels insulting to me, like there's someone in the Marketing Department laughing, "Hey, let's distract The Humans with a lotta noise so they will feel like they're winning! They'll never catch on!"

AAArrrrggghhhh- why did you have to tell me that!?!?! I see the videos of those hits that make me want to play- then I try and can't get 75 cents back for a line hit- haha. Fine. Next trip I will re-load the coffers on the game for your next visit.;)

More bonuses for me. If I don't hit a bonus in a while leave. Lower volatility, more time on the machine all day for me. I am the same way when I play VP, Jack or Bonus most of the time. I like to extend my time on the machine and time in the casino. I mean yeah I'd love a huge win (who wouldn't) but I hate going bust quickly, a real turn off for me.

Same with me. My BR is substantially smaller than most folks on this board, so when I play I need my time in the casino to last! I'm one of those people @Evoni described who gets up after the 4th spin if I haven't had a win, lol! I'd love a huge win as well, but honestly I'm happy if I can get enough small hits to keep me in the game and long enough to get some cocktails :)

I play both ends, the Double Diamond machines with an 800/1,600 jackpot, and the Davinci and Cleo II, and that's usually it, very little in between. They sometimes have disappointing bonuses, but they're only disappointing in comparison to some of the big big hits you get when you play them enough. And they both also throw out big sub-W2-G line hits often enough.

I used to play the original Wizard of Oz which wasn't bad for a penny machine.

But these huge upright pennies with their $12 BIG WIN bonuses on a $4 or $8 bet? GTFO.

I never understood the appeal of DaVinci Diamonds outside of DaVinci himself. I have never seen a huge bonus on this machine and the biggest Jackpot I saw (on YouTube) was a Diamond 5 symbol line hit for $5K. I like Double DaVinci Diamond in the penny variation. I personally have never had any significant bonus on these, hence why I don't play them.

Wow, I'm not sure I've ever even seen a screenshot of that.

Davinci, I think I'm just comfortable with the volatility level when I'm in a hi-vol mood; I don't want to say it's predictable, cause I have gotten schmeissed a couple of times, but like any machine I guess, it's usually a matter of being able to outlast the vol, and big pays feel better than a lot of smaller ones.

The graphics and sound are appealing to me also, they're kind of soothing vs. Cleo II which is kinda clattery.

I hate the jackpots that are like $1220, if I'm going to get a handpay like that I rather take $1199 or less lol

For me it depends on the mood and the bankroll. If I'm in the mood for socialising and playing with friends low volatility is good with frequent bonuses to keep us playing. Same idea if I'm on a lower budget.
Sometimes I get the craving for a hardcore session of a good few hours of patience before that big bonus hits (if it ever hits....).

There's something more fun about hitting a bonus after waiting for ages, when you know there's a higher likelihood of a big win, right?

I can sit at a cooperative Wonder 4 Wonder Wheel for as long as it will cooperate. I've been know to do so for hours at a time - especially with the Patron Silvers flowing.
