Nice shorts and a polo ok? I know not many places have hard dress codes now but I don't want to be out of place. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that outfit is ok in 98% of all Vegas restaurants, Carbone included.

Agreed. That said, there are some places where you'd look pretty off in shorts and a polo (places like Le Cirque, Twist, Picasso, Joel Robuchon, etc.), but even then it's not like any place is going to kick you out. I'm personally a proponent of dressing nicer, but that's far from a universal opinion at this point (see, e.g., the recent internet brouhaha over Curtas's column about Guy Savoy). And I consider Carbone to be relatively casual, at least compared to, say, the aforementioned restaurants.

One place that does not allow shorts is Prime. Strange becuase they allow jeans but no shorts whatsoever.... Had dinner reservations and hubby had on nice shorts/shirt... Nope! Summer time and he didn't bring long pants. "No problem Sir...we can loan you one of our uniform slacks"! He actually went in the back with them and found a pair that fit (tad short but...fit) We had a good laugh and awesome dinner! Note: They were clean and still in the dry cleaning plastic :D:D
I think what is strange is seeing men in old crappy jeans/tennis shoes in Prime, but not allowing nice shorts.

    A lot of them
I think you will be fine but I like to dress up a little when going to a nice restaurant for dinner so will bring one pair of long slacks which will match several shirts. Just seems to make the dinner more memorable but I'm pretty old school. I'm always in shorts and sandals in Vegas but just not for fine dining or shows.
